  • Floodlights, Floodlights, Floodlights

Posted on November, 4th 2010 by Tony Baxter

Whether you’re looking for 400/250 metal halide or the same in sodium or even a 150 or 70W double ended HQI, you’ve come to the right place. Especially as our latest container delivery has just landed direct from the factory.

Now I know we go on about buying direct, but we feel this is really important to you, the customer. Think about it like this. As we spend large amounts with this supplier, we automatically qualify for a larger discount than the other guys online who buy locally. We can not only offer you the best price possible, but, more importantly, we can guarantee next day delivery. So, as the picture shows, we have hundreds and hundreds of floodlights, sat waiting for you guys to buy.

We have noticed already this year that floodlights with integral photocells (dusk to dawn sensors) are selling really well so you’ll be pleased to know that we are extremely well stocked on those too. For those of you that have not bought from us before, remember that all our floodlights come complete with a lamp (bulb). This is important to know when you are comparing with some other sites who purposely advertise a price without the lamp.

    All the best,

    Tony

  • Why We Do What We Do…

Posted on September, 27th 2010 by admin

When we first started Lighting Centre, we wanted to do something that would set us apart from the dozens of other online companies. We sat for days, talking amongst ourselves, trying to work out what would set us apart from the rest. After about a week, we had a Eureka moment! Someone said ‘let’s ask the customers themselves’. We did, and the answer surprised us.

Over 75% said if we really wanted to make a difference, then availability was number 1 on their list. Obviously, a good price helps as well. So, after digesting this information, we decided to invest our hard earned cash into big orders, direct from the factory overseas.

The British economy, as we all know, has been on its knees for the last two years and the building and lighting industries have struggled more than most. The contractors and wholesalers who carry out and install a lot of the products we sell, told us that they were winning jobs later and later and sometimes would only get 5 days notice before a project started. So being able to buy from Lighting Centre and having next day delivery would be a massive help.

The next step was to choose our partners carefully. The company we deal with abroad turned over hundreds of millions of dollars last year and we have dealt with them for more than 4 years. They employ thousands of people and have a factory that NASA would be proud of. More importantly, every single product that they supply comes with full certification and conforms to all British standards. This peace of mind is worth its weight in gold. Knowing that simply having a great price is one thing, but knowing on the rare occasion there may be a problem, there would be massive technical knowledge to draw on.

So, as from mid-October 2010, Lighting Centre will be able to offer next day delivery on most products rather than the usual, run-of-the-mill, 3-5 days delivery that lots of other companies offer.

We would encourage wholesalers, councils, schools etc. to apply for credit accounts which will also be available from mid-October. In the true spirit of asking the customer, we pose this next question…

Tell us what you want us to stock!

We give you this opportunity to directly influence what we buy. If you use reasonable amounts for any one product, tell us and we will do our best to make it a stocked item.

    Until next time,

    Tony

  • Lighting Centre Leading the Way With Revolutionary NightSearcher MegaSol

Posted on September, 17th 2010 by ebaxter

All the team here at LightingCentre.com are massively excited to announce our fantastic new product launch of the MegaSol. We wanted to come up with a product that would provide the best all round solution for the ever-expanding need for portable, rechargeable floodlighting.

Currently, sports clubs (football, rugby, hockey etc) are serviced exceptionally well by current NightSearcher products and have been for many years. However, with the arrival of the MegaSol (exclusively at LightingCentre.com), we can now offer the most powerful LED, rechargeable floodlight in the country. This, we feel, will revolutionise the rechargeable floodlight market.

The powerful CREE LEDs provide a brighter and safer solution compared to any fluorescent, halogen or metal halide floodlight. With the MegaSol, there is minimal noise pollution, no dangerous trailing cables and no flimsy fluorescent tubes to crack or damage.

The close working relationship between NightSearcher and LightingCentre.com enables us, in nearly all cases, to offer our customers not only the first chance to purchase any new products which are released but also to obtain expert information and technical advice.

For any junior on non-league football or rugby club, wishing to train through the night during winter, that don’t have permanent fixed floodlights, this is by far the best solution in the marketplace today. The highly stable tripod extends up between 10 to 12 feet to provide massive, crystal clear, shadow free, illumination.  It has to be seen to be believed!

At Lighting Centre, we understand that buying these sorts of products is not always an easy purchase, so we will be offering tips and advice on fund-raising and will make available a downloadable sponsorship form. From the third week in September, application shots will be made available from the product page of the website, showing the product in action. At the same time, you will be able to order these fantastic, brand new units.

    Thanks for your time,

    Tony

    Lighting Centre

P.S. We are always looking for agents to sell a range of our products into all sectors.

  • Tungsten Halogen Security Light

Posted on September, 2nd 2010 by admin

I recently opted to install a Tungsten Halogen security light in my back garden, however after installing a 500w unit from a local electrical supplier I have grown a little concerned that the neighbours are getting a little confused as to when night and day fall. We have also blinded a few of the local feline community, that’s a joke cat lovers!!!!. I fear that my carbon footprint may be in line with the likes of BA and BP another joke share holders!!!! In short the bulb is too bright in fact it is a very bright light and it seems to get very hot when switched on for a few minutes, so after a brief discussion with Big Tony at lighting Centre I was shown the error of my ways. We had a good chat on the merits of a nifty little Bulb, a 24w retrofit bulb which will emit a warmer light and give us cost savings over the lifetime of the light.

He also mentioned that if I had bought the item from Lighting Centre the 24w bulb would have been installed as standard with the tungsten halogen floodlight. Lesson learned! Well that’s the good thing about speaking to the Professionals as they often have little cost effective solutions to even the most simple jobs and their knowledge of the industry is usually second to none.

Update…. wow! The light was perfect, we sat out and had a glass of wine in our beautifully lit garden last night and hardly noticed the light, it was perfect, all I can say is that if you have an older tungsten halogen security light, get a retro fit bulb and if you want a light that doesn’t make your house look like the back of a chip shop then get one of the tungsten floodlights from lighting centre that already has a bulb pre installed.

  • Nightsearcher – Richard Fuller and the new Solaris 6K

Posted on September, 1st 2010 by admin

Today it is our pleasure to introduce Richard Fuller the UK sales manager for Nightsearcher Ltd and thank him for his guest post.

Richard has been instrumental in creating the strategic partnership between Nightsearcher Ltd and LightingCentre.com

    Over to you Richard:

Hi, my name is Richard and I am the UK sales manager for Nightsearcher Ltd, a portable lighting company leading the industry with ever advancing portable lighting products. Our main objective is to supply clients with safe, reliable, portable lighting that can be used as replacements for high energy/carbon consuming products and eliminating our reliance for generators altogether. We are constantly changing and upgrading our range to meet the high expectations from major groups such as EDF Energy, British Airways, Scottish & Southern Energy and are specialist suppliers to the Police, MoD, Fire Service, Rail and the utility sector. We are very excited by the launch of several new products starting with the new shape Solaris system, an Led floodlight with the highest light output available in today’s market:

    SOLARIS 6K

With the continual advancements in LEDs, NightSearcher have designed and developed an unrivalled light source, incorporating our new SOLARIS light head. NightSearcher are proud to present the future of LED lighting, the SOLARIS 6K.
This breakthrough in LED technology means an end to relying on fragile halogen or fluorescent sources. The SOLARIS 6K is able to flood huge areas with white, shadow free light. By changing over to this advanced technology, companies could save up to 3,000 tons of CO2 a year* whilst offering a more reliable floodlight in terms of durability and safety.

Our unique combination of high power LEDs and optics allow the beam to cover more distance and perform at 6,000 lumens (per head) full power and 3,000 lumens on half power, giving an extended running time making it ideal for a range of applications such as Rail maintenance/inspections, sporting events etc

The SOLARIS range, including the SOLARIS 6K heads are safe, cool to touch, have no glare, is environmentally friendly (with no noise or emissions) and most importantly, is still able to run from a rechargeable power pack making it fully portable with no hazardous trailing leads.

We also intend in launching a range of Led search lights by October so watch this space for more information.

  • It’s getting dark…

Posted on August, 20th 2010 by admin

The last few days here in Sheffield have had a distinctive wintery feel. For those of us who work in the lighting industry, the dark nights can’t come quick enough! Here at Lighting Centre we have been searching for new exciting and innovative products that will not only help to light your homes and driveways (at sensible prices) but also keep the burglars away.

    Remote Control

One of my personal favourites is the Titan RS radio controlled range of products. The reason I love this product is because it is so versatile and for those of you who love gadgets it can be supplied with a handheld remote control. Imagine the scenario you are laid in bed fast asleep and hear a noise outside but the lights have not come on, you simply pick up the remote control, click a button and the PIR security light turns on/off. Even better it has a huge 70 meter range. There are many other mix and match products to suite most situations in the Titan range!

    Coming Soon

Lighting Centre has just secured a deal for a range of security products that are wireless. We try to source products that are not only exciting and new but also employ cutting edge technology and ultimately are easy to install. These will all be available on our site before the winter months arrive!

    Saving The Planet

We love to do our bit by offering low energy and energy efficient lighting solutions. One of our most popular floodlights favoured by the home owner has now been given a low energy makeover. Available in two versions. The first being a 24W PL lamp version which replaces a massive 500W tungsten halogen lamp and the second being a 36W spiral which is also very popular. The great benefit of these is that you are reducing the wattage required massively. In the first case from 500 watts down to just 24 and the second from 500W to just 36. Now before anyone says, are they the same brightness? The answer is no…but for home domestic use in our opinion they are more than good enough for running to the car or taking the bin out to the edge of the road.

    Until next time!

  • Welcome to lightingcentre.com

Posted on August, 16th 2010 by katie

    Hi All,

Welcome again to the latest blog post on lightingcentre.com. I’m sure everybody has been enjoying the small amount of sunshine that we have had in the UK. We know that you’ve all been busy in your gardens from the amount of decking, LED and solar lighting that we have sold. Not wanting to wish the summer away but, the team here are all massively excited that we have just placed two MASSIVE container orders with our factory overseas. The delivery will be arriving in October, just in time for the lighting season to start.

This should be of particular interest to all the contractors and electricians out there as a large proportion of the order will be floodlights. All manner of floodlights, these include 70W SON floods, 150W & 70W double ended metal halide and all the big boys including 400W SON and HQI. If it’s got floodlight in the name, we’re selling it!

Another area we aim to be number 1 in is emergency lighting. We will have our own range of 8W bulkheads (maintained and non-maintained), emergency exit boxes, twin-spots and a whole load of other emergency fittings, all excellent quality at importer prices.

    Yes! We are direct importers.

What does this mean to you?

Put simply, you are cutting out the guys in the middle. Lots of other online sites claim to do this by supplying direct from the manufacturer, and to a point this is true, but, they don’t buy at overseas factory prices, they simply purchase in the UK. This is where we have a big advantage, by investing hard cash in stock, we purchase at far better rates and pass these savings onto you.

A great way to test this is to ask the potential website supplier to see their warehouse. Most of them will be almost empty as they order back to back (purchase when an order comes in) or are full of years old, outdated, dead stock.
As from October, Lighting Centre openly invites any of our customers to visit us and pick up their order or simply view the large range of floodlights, emergency lighting, low energy lighting, LED lighting, self test fittings and many more.

    Until next time,

    Tony
